January 31: National (Boozy) Hot Chocolate Day

All of us here at Old Tennessee Distilling Company would like to celebrate National Hot Chocolate Day this January 31st, but with a boozy twist. There is nothing better than ending your day with a warm, chocolate, dessert cocktail. Check out some of these simple and drool-worthy recipes for spiked hot chocolates.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate

¼ ounce peppermint schnapps

½ ounce of chocolate liqueur

1 cup hot chocolate

Combine and heat all ingredients in a saucepan. Once everything is warm and smooth, pour the mixture into a mug and top it with whipped cream and peppermint candy pieces.

Coconut White Hot Chocolate

1 ounce Thunder Road Coconut Flavored Rum

¼ cup toasted coconut

1 cup white hot chocolate

Mix the rum and toasted coconut into the prepared white hot chocolate mixture. Top with whipped cream and add more coconut shavings if desired.

Orange Brandy Hot Chocolate

1 cup hot chocolate

2 ounces orange brandy

This one is for the chocolate orange lovers. Stir the brandy into the cup of prepared hot chocolate. Top the mixture with some whipped cream and orange zest.

Oreo Mint Hot Chocolate

1 ounce mint vodka

1 cup white hot chocolate

3 mint Oreos

Blend these ingredients in a blender until smooth and then heat in a saucepan. If you do not have mint vodka, try using ¼ ounce of peppermint schnapps and our Dumplin Creek vodka.

Cal F. Johnson Hot Chocolate

1.5 ounces Cal F. Johnson’s Black Mountain Spiced Rum

1.5 ounces butterscotch schnapps

4 ounces hot chocolate

Combine and heat all ingredients in a saucepan. Top your drink with whipped cream and a cinnamon stick.
