National Daiquiri Day
Every year, on July 19th, people come together and fill their glasses with the beloved rum-based cocktail – the fabulous daiquiri. We love our rum at Old Tennessee, and we love the frozen cocktail even more. Cuban miners invented the Daiquiri. The drink was crafted by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox. Cox was in Cuba at the time of the Spanish-American war. Cox and his colleagues would gather at the local bar after long days in the mine. One day after work, Cox mixed Bacardi, sugar, and lime into a glass of ice. From then on, the Daiquiri was born and named after the Daiquiri mines. This drink became a staple in Havana, and is now widely loved and available, especially at the beach!
Since vacations are limited this year, it’s up to us to create the perfect daiquiri and pretend we’re living that beach life. We know you’d rather be on the beach without a care in the world, but we think this is a pretty good way to enjoy your staycation. Trust us, with a few of these recipes, you won’t mind sitting on your back deck, taking in the sunshine, and of course, enjoying a few cocktails. Here are a few daiquiri recipes you can make with our rum!
