World Whiskey Day
Every third Saturday in May, whiskey drinkers come together to celebrate World Whiskey Day. This year, on May 15th, we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this wonderful holiday. No matter where you are, raise a glass with your favorite whiskey and join us as we appreciate this classic favorite.
The Whiskey Process
The process of making and distilling whiskey has been around for ages. In general, it starts with taking mashed grain and letting it sit in hot water until the grain releases sugar. Yeast is then added to the sugary water, which results in the mixture turning into what’s known as ‘wash’ during the fermentation process. Next, it’s time for the actual distilling. The alcohol is pumped into a still where it is heated in order to vaporize the alcohol from the rest of the wash. This process is repeated a few times before the alcohol is transferred into barrels for the aging process; this is also where flavoring and colors are added.
